Welcome to America, No ID needed.

We often hear our politicians ramble on about our right to vote…  the Constitution is very vague on that right, merely requiring the Federal Government to ensure that the States maintain a Republican form of government. It has become part of our culture that voting on Election Day is our responsibility, yet this responsibility is protected by nothing more than a theory.

How can participating in our nation’s elective process be more open to fraud than American Idol? When concerned citizens of our nation make efforts to demonstrate how poorly guarded this sacred duty is, the powers that be look the other way. When  James O’Keefe showed how easy it is for a person to vote as another (in this case Attorney General Eric Holder.) The DOJ refused to acknowledge that anything was actually proven. Instead they pointed out that since no vote was actually cast fraudulently in the video… no fraud must exist.

I wonder what would have been the reaction if instead of attempting to cast a fraudulent vote, O’Keefe had tried his hand at voter suppression. Imagine the controversy if he had filmed himself talking elderly or minority voters out of casting their ballots or somehow misleading them on the process. Surely that would have been front page news. How is that any different than casting a fraudulent vote? It doesn’t matter if you are suppressing votes or adding fake ones, you are still tampering with our system of government and disenfranchising those who do try to cast legal votes.

Voter ID laws are not racist or elitist, they are common sense. Everything in our country requires some form of identification, which is not hard to get if you are legally supposed to be in this country. To resist voter ID laws is not protecting the weak or unprivileged, but instead protecting those who wish to be able to cheat the system. With nearly our entire country run on computers, it is not hard to remove names of the deceased from voter rolls, yet even something as simple and undisputed as that is being impeded by the Far Left.

It is ironic to hear these panicked screams over voter ID laws from the same people who swear that the 2000 election was stolen from them. Voter ID laws will help this country and all those who wish our elections to be beyond dispute, we must ask ourselves why there are some who don’t care if we know votes in our elections or if they are even a still living human being.

  1. I was surprised when I went to early voting yesterday at a local Vons, that I didn’t need anything more than the sample ballot that was sent to me in the mail. I actually had pulled my ID out of my wallet assuming that it would be checked and was told “Oh, that is not necessary, I just need to scan your sample ballot.” Should I be checking through the recycling bins for extra sample ballots just to get extra votes? I won’t, but something is wrong with this.

  2. Nate, that is terrifying. I didn’t realize that the sample ballot was an acceptable form of “ID”. My neighbor’s was put into my mailbox by mistake. I returned it to her, but had it been mine that was misplaced I wouldn’t even have missed it. I have yet to vote in this election, but in the last few weeks it’s been interesting to see the varying beliefs on this topic. It seems that many people think that showing some form of ID is actually required, and are unaware of how precarious this situation actually is. Thanks for sharing your story, I think I’ll try to show my ID when I go vote too 🙂
