Minimum Wage in Seattle.

I do believe that minimum wage laws hurt the workers in the long run and we would be better off by focusing on building the economy and fighting back regulations. However, the beauty of our system of government is that different people and localities can do whatever they deem the best for their interests. In Seattle the Mayor has struck a deal to increase the minimum wage to $15. I disagree with the idea, but if Seattle thinks that’s what is best for them, have at it.
Meanwhile in Washington and on Twitter we have the Progressive Left throwing fits about raising the wage to $10.10. It is somewhat comical since it is obvious that this is purely a political move, designed to change the conversation before the midterms. If it was so important, we didn’t we hear about it in 2012?
The Left have turned on the flame throwers in an attempt to paint the Right as evil, but that doesn’t bother me a whole lot. I object to the idea that raising the minimum wage will solve our economy and I don’t believe it should be mandated from Capitol Hill. If the Dems really want to raise the wage, maybe they should look to state and see what works for each state instead of insisting on a blanket solution.
