Animal Farm on MSNBC.

A few days ago the Krystal Ball a co-host on MSNBC’s The Cycle gave us this inspired interpretation of the meaning of George Orwell’s Animal Farm..

“Animal Farm, hmm. Isn’t that Orwell’s political parable of farm animals where a bunch of pigs hog up all the economic resources, tell the animals they need the food because they’re the makers and then scare up a prospect of a phony boogie man every time their greed is challenged?”

That is a fair description of the book…if you haven’t read it.
If you have read it, you know that Animal Farm is a barnyard analogy about the dangers of Stalin and Soviet tyranny. Some books are open to interpretation, but spinning this damnation of Communism into a warning about Capitalism is kind of stretch.

As if her first statement on George Orwell wasn’t embarrassing enough, she doubled down on her thoughts today.

She started off her rant by complaining that some of her critics had called her names or had been rude via the internet, then she proved that she also struggles to understand irony as she managed to bash Mitt Romney, Frank Luntz and Karl Rove in her extended synopsis of Animal Farm. We all agree that concentrated power in the hands of the few is bad for everyone, but supporting smaller government and lower taxes is the opposite path. Perhaps if Miss Ball is so concerned about Greedy Pigs, she should focus her time of fighting government overreach and crony capitalism instead of bashing Republicans.
