Pork Barrel Reid.

Our favorite Senator from Nevada is once again putting his mouth in the news. In a startling turn, he didn’t blame the Koch Brothers and actually bashed Obama a bit. So what could bring such an about-face from our esteemed Majority Leader?

Earmarks.

That’s right, according to Harry Reid, pork barrel spending is a necessity of our government and was enshrined in our system by the founders. I’ve never heard of Madison and Adams getting together to build a bridge to nowhere so they could pass a budget bill, but I don’t know history like Reid does.
Of course Reid is disappointed with his inability to secure earkmarks for his pet projects. How else is he suppose to bribe the population of Nevada into forgetting his stance on so many issues that are harmful to us. Earmarks serve to protect politicians who vote on unpopular bills by giving them the power to reward constituents who would otherwise be angry with them. Forgive me if I don’t believe that is in the best interests of the country at large. Perhaps Mr Reid could refrain from making such unpopular decisions?

In his lecture on how our government is suppose to work, he actually found the mark and hit on something the Founders would support…
“It is wrong to have bureaucrats downtown (DC) make decisions in Nevada that I can make better than they can make,”

Of course it is rather ironic that Harry Reid would reveal himself as such a defender of State’s Rights and limited government, considering his leading role in putting the Federal Government in charge of our Health Care and his active defense of the BLM. Unfortunately for us all, Reid is not a believer in limited government, but he is a believer wielding as much power as personally possible. If Reid truly believed in Nevadans controlling Nevada, there is a lot he could do other than whine about not having more personal access to our Federal Budget.
