Smoke Signals of Silliness.

I know this is slightly old news since according to some the SCOTUS made it illegal to be a woman today….but.

Since the Storm Troopers of Political Correctness have just about claimed the scalp (Racist?) of a NFL team owner in their quest for a completely unoffensive world, they have already set their sights on the next target.
This would be the any name of US Military hardware which has a name related to Indians.
Such as Apache attack Helicopters, Tomahawk cruise missiles and Black Hawks. The reasoning for this line of thought seems to be the belief that we are gloating over our victories against the Indians in battles with them over the past few centuries. The author makes the comparison of the modern German military naming their hardware “Jews or Gypsies”.

Of course it is not surprising that such a sensitive soul like Simon Waxman does not understand the meaning of the names of our weapons. We have not applied Indian names to some of our most awesome weapons because we conquered the Indians, but instead because they were such fearsome warriors who were Americans.
If the author’s logic was applied, we would have a ICBM named “Red Coat”, here in reality it is called the “Minute Man”, honoring the soldiers who led us in our first battles as a nation, just as the name Apache honors those who fought against overwhelming odds with a tenacity that has rarely been seen.
Our Helicopter fleet pays respect to fallen American warriors, just as our Carriers respect our greatest Presidents with names like Washington, Lincoln and Kennedy.

Instead of using these Indian names to exclude them from our culture, they are intended to do the opposite by incorporating them into our national spirit.
