Ramos vs Trump…and reality.

Obviously Jorge Ramos’ intentions when he attended the Donald Trump presser on Tuesday night was to draw attention to issues of immigration. However, he probably didn’t intend to provide such a perfect example of how our immigration policy has failed and how Trump would handle it.
It all started when Jorge Ramos started reading from his prepared notes at an event specifically designed to focus on someone else. Not only did he thumb his nose at the traditional manner of conduct at such events but also to those who were patiently waiting their turn as per the rules. He was hijacking the entire event to suit his own personal goals. In his mind, his own personal plight was the most important issue at stake, Donald Trump, the media and everyone else would just have to sit back and accept that what he wanted was more important.
Who could imagine a Mexican doing such a thing? Where could they possible get the idea that they could break the rules and be rewarded for doing so?
Of course, if Jorge Ramos had been dealing with the traditional American politician, he probably would have prevailed, since sticking to ones guns and honoring the rules has been deemed politically incorrect. As witnessed when Bernie Sanders so politely self-deported himself from his own event rather than risk an argument with a few protesters.
However, Jorge was not facing a weak kneed socialist, instead he had chosen to face down someone who isn’t worried about being polite or politically correct. The metaphorical depiction of our immigration situation continued to play out as Trump finally resorted to having Jorge Ramos forcibly removed from the premises. Surely no one would have thought that action any more possible than deporting eleven million illegal immigrants, but conventional opinions don’t slow Trump down.
As Ramos was removed, he sputtered helplessly that such action was wrong and that he had a right to be where he was and behaving as he pleased.  This ties in with his later statement that “No Human can be Illegal.” This of course ignores any sense of the general rule of law. If your “Human Rights” give you the ability to flout immigration laws with no consequence, what laws do you have to follow? If I think taxation violates my human rights, am I allowed to ignore those laws? I would hate to be thought of being illegal, so perhaps the laws should be changed to grant my tax free status.
The issue at hand is not discriminatory or racist laws designed to punish a specific sect of people based on their race or other unchangeable attribute. In fact those people that Ramos is referring to are knowingly choosing to break the law and doing so with a clear understanding of the consequences of their actions. Their behavior is what makes them “illegal”.  No amount of emotional cajoling can change that fact.
In continuing to display his immigration policy, Donald Trump allowed Ramos to return, provided he calmed down and followed the rules.  I know, that sounds barbaric.
What ensued was an even more embarrassing display from the so called Mexican Walter Cronkite, where he was soundly out debated by the reality TV star. Apparently the depth of his knowledge on immigration issues does not extend past the most simplistic forms of emotional manipulation and guilt-tripping. Offering no rebuttal or counter points, he meekly evaded Trump’s questions and denied validity of his statements with no attempt to actually disprove them.
The crux of his opinion seems to be based on the belief that all people are entitled to enter into the United States via any means possible and in doing so become citizens of our country and deserving of all the benefits of our country. This is a recipe for anarchy and disaster.
Once again we can refer back to the antics of Ramos.  He behaved as if the Donald Trump presser was constructed to benefit himself and not Donald Trump, who had actually organized the event. This is the position taken by the Illegal Immigrant movement,  the idea that the laws of the United States are designed to protect them and not the actual citizens of the United States. No country has ever designed its laws to assist an alien people at the cost of its own members, nor would such a state long exist if it did. The laws of the United States are created for the protection of the current citizens of the country and should be executed as such.  Jorge Ramos and his homies should not get or expect special treatment.
Ramos definitely put his version of how the American people should deal with illegals on display, as did Trump. Unfortunately for Ramos, the game of guilt-tripping and righteous indignation is not getting him as far as it used too.
Hasta La vista, Baby.
